Description
This drinking fountain, located north of the main drive and parallel with the railway in Haslam Park, was constructed in 1911. It is made of cast iron and features an open-work design on a stone base, showcasing a Gothic style. The fountain is supported by four fluted columns and has four moulded cusped arches with ornamented spandrels and scrolled corners. It is topped with a domed roof adorned with griffons, ribs, and a coronet. Each side of the fountain has roundels displaying a pelican emblem in shields along with inscriptions that read: "Presented by Councillor W.G. Makinson January 1911" and "Keep the pavement dry." The basin is set on a composite pedestal with the fountain positioned above it.
