Description

Morley Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse and cottage located on Morley Lane in Brancepeth. The farmhouse dates from the early 18th century, while the cottage is from the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed from large squared and coursed sandstone rubble, topped with ridged concrete roof tiles and featuring brick chimney stacks.

The farmhouse is a two-storey, wide three-bay structure with a rubble plinth and roughly-squared quoins on the left side. It has a central replaced door with a narrow overlight, framed by a surround with alternating jambs and a rendered lintel. The window openings have been altered and feature flush lintels and projecting sills. On either side of the central door are late 20th-century casements, with two 16-pane sash windows and a replaced casement above, positioned just below the eaves. The eaves were likely raised in the early 19th century.

The two-bay cottage has a boarded door and replaced sash windows. It has a continuous steeply-pitched roof with swept eaves and raised verges, and a reverse-stepped gable on the left side. There are square-plan, hand-made brick stacks at the left end and in the centre, with a rebuilt stack at the right end. Additionally, there is a single-storey outshut added to the rear of the cottage.
