Description
The drinking fountain, located in the wall to the northeast of Number 12, The Village, is a mid-19th century structure built for the Brancepeth Estate. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features Baroque details. The fountain stands 2.5 metres high and has an enriched round-arched shell niche with a projecting oval bowl. This niche is set within a gabled surround that has a swept base and a small semicircular pediment at the top. Inside the niche, there is a carved grotesque mask that serves as a water spout, surrounded by a panelled semicircular design with guttae. Above the niche, there is a relief of the Boyne family crest.
