Description

Box Tree Farmhouse and Box Tree Cottage is a farmhouse and attached cottage located on Village Street in Lockton. The cottage dates from the early 18th century, while the farmhouse was built in the mid to late 18th century and has been altered over time. The buildings are constructed from dressed sandstone with a rendered porch and feature a pantile roof and brick stacks.

The farmhouse has a central stairhall plan and is two storeys high with a three-window front. The attached cottage, which has a direct-entry plan, is a single cell and has one low storey with a single window. The central part-glazed door of the farmhouse is set in a projecting porch that has a bargeboard at the gable. To the left of the cottage is a board door.

The farmhouse features 4-pane sash windows with painted stone sills and tripartite keyed lintels. The cottage has a three-light horizontal sliding sash window without glazing bars on the ground floor, along with a similar small-paned window in the attic. Both buildings have coped gables, shaped kneelers, and stacks at the ends and center of the farmhouse, while the cottage has a coped gable and an end stack on the right.
