Description
Blacksmith's Cottage, Holmlea, and The Haven is a terrace of three cottages with an attached building, dating from the early 19th century, with a later extension into the earlier attached structure. The cottages are constructed from dressed sandstone, with a coursed rubble attachment, and feature a pantile roof and brick stacks. The terrace is two stories high with five windows, while the building to the left is one and a half stories tall.
The terrace has 20th-century board doors at the end and center left, and part-glazed doors to the right of center and center right. It features 16-pane sash windows with painted milled sills throughout, and heavy plain lintels above all ground floor openings. The building to the left has one ground-floor window and one half-dormer, both of which are 2-light, large-pane casements with a timber lintel above the ground-floor window.
Inside, the attached building to the left is said to contain at least one pair of crucks, but it was unoccupied at the time of the resurvey.
