Description
Firwood Cottages is a terrace of three cottages, originally four, dating from the late 18th century, with a 20th-century extension and alterations. The cottages are built of coursed rubble sandstone and feature a pantile roof with brick stacks. The structure is two stories high and has a seven-window front.
Cottages 1 and 2 have six-panel doors with overlights located to the left and at the end right of cottage 3. The ground floor has six 16-pane sash windows. Cottages 1 and 2 also feature 16-pane sashes on the first floor, with a blind window located above the door of cottage 1. Cottage 3 has two-light, small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows on the first floor. All windows have painted stone sills and painted wedge lintels, with the lintels on cottage 3 being tooled. The gables are coped, and there are moulded kneelers. The cottages have stacks at the ends, in the center, and at the center left and right.
