Description
The Rise is a pair of cottages that have been converted into a house. They were built in the mid-19th century and altered in the 20th century. The front is made of dressed sandstone, while the sides are rock-faced. The building features sandstone ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof. It is two stories tall with a four-window front and a single-storey lean-to porch. The porch has a 20th-century board door. To the right, there is a two-light, small-pane casement window set in a square-arched surround. The end windows are two-light, large-pane casements in ogee-arched surrounds. The first floor has two-light, small-pane casements. All window surrounds are quoined and chamfered, with segmental relieving arches on the ground floor. The building has a central ridge stack on a hipped roof with overhanging eaves. It is included for its group value.
