Description
The Beehive is an inn that has been converted into a house, dating back to 1773 as indicated by a datestone. It has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from roughly tooled sandstone with a pantile roof and brick stacks. It features a central-entry plan, is one room deep, and has an outshut. The front is two stories high with three windows. The central entrance has a four-panel door with an overlight above it. The ground floor has four-pane sash windows, while the first floor has 20th-century cross windows flanking a small two-light, large-pane horizontal sliding sash. All openings, except for the 20th-century windows on the first floor, have tooled keystone lintels, and all windows have stone sills. The keystone above the door is inscribed with "TS 1773." The building has a stepped eaves course, coped gables, and shaped kneelers, with stacks at both ends.
