Description
Shepperdine House and Cottage is a farmhouse, now a house, with an attached cottage. It features an early 19th-century refronting of an earlier building, along with later alterations. The house is constructed of rubble and rendered, topped with a slate roof, while the cottage has a concrete tiled roof and brick gable stacks.
The house is two storeys high with three windows, all of which are 16-pane sashes with cills, except for the large two-light casement in the centre of the first floor, which has eight panes each. The central porch is supported by two square plan columns with recessed panels, a cornice, and a pierced balustrade. The door has a round-headed architrave with a decorative fanlight, and there are plinths, a cornice, and a larger upper cornice made of sections of cast iron. The parapet and coping return a short way to the side elevations. There is also a 19th-century conservatory with fluted panels between the windows.
The cottage, located to the left and set back, is also two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:3, with all boxed sashes on the first floor and two 20th-century windows and doors on the ground floor. The east elevation features a two-storey wing with two windows, all of which are boxed sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
