Description

Nupdown Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dated FF/1809, likely referring to Flora Fust, as noted on a monument in the Church of St. Michael. This building was remodeled when it was part of the Fust Estate and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of rubble with brick and stone dressings, partly rendered at the rear, and features a pantiled roof with raised coped verges and brick gable stacks. The roof also has double Roman tiles on the rear and includes a single-storey addition to the northwest.

The farmhouse is L-shaped, standing 2½ storeys tall with three windows, all of which are 3-light casements, except for a 2-light casement at the center of the first floor. All windows have gauged brick segmental heads, brick surrounds, and keystones. There is a central gabled brick porch with a 20th-century door. The southeast gable end features two 2-light attic windows with gauged brick segmental heads and keystones. The single-storey addition has a 20th-century window with a timber lintel and a porch on the west side.

At the rear, there is a single-storey rendered brick extension, which includes a 3-light window with a segmental head and a plank door. The central gable has a 20th-century window with a segmental head, brick surround, and keystone at the first floor, and the attic has a 4-light window in the same style. A two-storey rear wing has one window, a 20th-century design with a gauged brick head, and a door with a triangular hood featuring a scalloped bargeboard and finial. The interior has not been inspected.
