Description
This is a c.1700 gamekeeper’s house, now divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, large quoins, and has a Welsh slate roof with flat stone coping and brick chimneys with yellow pots. The building is two storeys and five bays wide. The left-hand three-bay section has a central, partly-glazed door set beneath a stone lintel. The 3-light Yorkshire sashes in the outer bays retain oak lintels, although the window at the top left has been renewed. The right-hand section features an inserted half-glazed door under a stone lintel with rendered jambs, a renewed 2-light Yorkshire sash at the right, and a 3-light window above with oak lintels. A projecting stone sill is present on the ground-floor window of the right-hand section, while the first-floor window has a rendered sill. The roof has corniced ridge chimneys at each end and between the houses, with octagonal Gothic-style pots, the one on the right featuring pierced coping.
