Description

Brancepeth Bridge is a bridge over Stuckley Burn, rebuilt in the early to mid-19th century from an earlier structure. It features a sandstone ashlar arch and parapets, with rock-faced abutments and rubble walls that include quoins. Designed in the Gothic style, the bridge has a high, two-centred arch with a drip-mould, flanked by wide, shallow buttresses. There is a band at road bed level that is dentilled between the buttresses, and the gently-chamfered battlemented parapets are situated between slightly higher end sections, which have rendered coping.
