Description
The outbuildings to the east of Goodwell Field gamekeeper's house are early 19th-century structures that include byres, a harness room, a coach house, a stable or barn, a hen-house, and a game larder, with the game larder dating from the late 19th century. They are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, while the game larder is made of brick. The roof is covered with pantiles, featuring yellow ridge tiles and some salt-glazed ridge tiles, along with a salt-glazed ridge ventilator. The building is arranged in an L-plan, consisting of a single-storey long range. The byres and harness room are located on the left return, with a lower hen-house and game larder on the right. There are boarded double vehicle doors under a wood lintel in the second bay, along with boarded doors with wood lintels leading to the central barn and right stable. A partly-glazed hit-and-miss byre light is present on the left, and there are slit vents in the barn and stable, as well as a square pigeon-hole in the barn. The hen-house features a Dutch door, and there is a boarded door leading to the game larder. The roof is hipped on the left side.
