Description

BRANCEPETH MORLEY LANE NZ 23 NW (West side) 5/17 Linked barn, gin- 24/5/78 gang and byre to east of Morley Farmhouse (formerly listed as Outbuildings to north of Morley Farmhouse) GV II Barn, gin-gang and byre, now storage. Mid-late C18 barn and gin-gang. Mid C19 byre. Coursed rubble with pantiled roofs; barn roof has stone-flagged eaves facing farmyard. L-plan: barn on left rear of farmhouse (q.v.) with byre at right-angles enclosing farmyard; gin-gang on rear of barn. Tall, single-storey barn of 2 builds. 2-bay section, adjoining farmhouse, has opposed Dutch doors. Added 4-bay end section has scattered openings, 2 rows of breathers and C20 vehicle opening on rear. Steeply-pitched roof with swept eaves. Lower single-storey, 5-bay byre has off-centre Dutch door and replaced casements in segmental-headed openings with brick surrounds. Roof hipped at right. Octagonal-plan gin-gang has circular piers, later rubble infill walls and a pyramidal roof. Barn retains some original adzed roof trusses with thin tie beams and swept principals, halved and crossed at ridge. C20 brick lean-to addition on front of barn is not of interest. Derelict at time of survey. Included for group value.
