GLAISDALE GLAISDALE SIDE Byre, barn and gin-gang to north-east of Post Gate Farmhouse (formerly listed as part of outbuildings to east of house)

GV II

Byre, barn and gingang. Early C19 in several builds. Sandstone partly with rough tooling, partly with herringbone tooling; pantiled roofs. At west a long range, one storey with loft. 5 stable doors with small windows between. Stone stair to boarded loft door in west return. Eastern part more narrowly-coursed sandstone. Attached on south a solid gingang with half-octagonal end and hipped roof; boarded door and small high openings. Cart doors in east end of barn. Rear elevation barely above 1 storey because of rising ground. The 3 pitching doors are barely above the 4 entrance doors, all boarded. Irregular openings, some slit vents; and a drive shaft for a belt-driven threshing machine in the eastern section.
