Description

This milestone, located 250 metres to the north-west of the entrance to Highfield House in Addingham, dates from the mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure that is overlaid with cast iron. The milestone has two projecting faces, with the letters presented in relief. The top of the milestone is inscribed with "SKIPTON & OTLEY ROAD ADDINGHAM." The left face indicates a distance of 4¼ miles to Ilkley, while the right face shows distances of 10¼ miles to Otley and 5 miles to Skipton.
