8, Burnett Street

No. 8 Burnett Street is a wool warehouse and office building dating from around 1865 to 1870. It stands two stories tall with a semi-basement and is constructed from sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. The building features horizontal grooving on the basement and ground floor, along with sill bands, a bed mould on the frieze, and plain console brackets at the eaves cornice.

The façade has seven bays, with segmental arched basement windows that include double keystones. The ground floor windows are set in splayed recessed surrounds, also with keystones above their segmental arches. To the right, there is a doorway with a recessed concave panelled surround that extends over a fanlight, and a sill band that returns over the doorhead. The outer arch of the doorway is adorned with an archivolt and spaced voussoirs, featuring a keystone decorated with the Staff of Mercury. The first floor has plain sash windows.

The building also has a long return front to Scoresby Street, which includes similar architectural details and two semi-circular archways, one of which has been converted into a window.
