Description
No. 30 Chapel Street is a warehouse and office building dating from around 1870. It features a four-bay, four-storey facade made of sandstone with a "brick" appearance. The ground floor has V-grooved rustication, topped with a frieze and cornice. There is a sill band at the second floor and a bracketed eaves cornice with terminal consoles. The ground floor includes segmental arched windows and a large doorway, both adorned with mask keystones. Basement windows are situated below the sills of the ground floor windows, set in the same reveal. The first floor windows have an impost band that extends over the arches, with incised panels both between and flanking them. The top floors feature plain windows. This building shares a related design with Nos. 36 and 38 Chapel Street, likely created by the architectural firm Andrews and Pepper.
