Description
No. 17 Peckover Street is a wool warehouse and office building from around 1860-1870, likely designed by Eli Milnes. It is a simple two-storey structure made of sandstone "brick" and is located on a corner site with Burnett Street. The building features rusticated quoins, a plinth, a sill band, and a bed mould at the frieze topped with a cornice supported by modillion brackets.
The façade facing Peckover Street has six bays, while the return side has eight. The first-floor windows are adorned with quoin panels. The ground floor includes three round-headed windows and a doorway framed by bolection architrave surrounds, with carved foliage keystones. The doorway has a fanlight and is slightly larger than the windows. To the right, there is a flat linteled waggonway supported by profiled corbels. This building is an important feature of the corner site.
