Description
39 Chapel Street is a large corner building, likely constructed as printing works around 1880-1890. It stands four storeys tall with an attic and is made of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. The Chapel Street elevation is prominently designed, featuring concave-convex swept steps that lead from a blind attic down to the three-storey corner. The first and second floor windows are set within a giant arcade, with segmental archivolt arches and narrower semi-circular arched end bays. The stepped rear south elevation rises to three and four storeys to provide top lighting.
