Description
Number 26 and the adjoining barn to the east is a late 17th century former farmhouse with a small former barn or outbuilding. The building is two stories high and constructed of coursed gritstone, featuring a three-bay front and a rear outshut. It has a stone slate roof and a 19th-century corniced chimney on the east side. There is an external stack with offsets at the west end, which is accompanied by an external flight of steps. The outer windows on the first floor were altered around 1800 to include square mullions, while the center window retains its original chamfered mullions. A weathered string course runs above the ground floor. The right-hand window on the ground floor, which was originally a five-light window, has been reduced to three lights with chamfered mullions. To the left, there is a three-light square mullion window. The entrance features a four-panel door with squared jambs dating from around 1800. The rear outshut includes a mullion and transom window.
