Description
No 1 on Greenfield Lane is a building likely constructed as a farmhouse around 1800. It has since been altered into a pair of cottages and then used for industrial purposes. The building is two storeys high, made of sandstone "brick" with a stone slate roof, featuring prominent kneelers on the west gable end. The first floor has three irregularly spaced windows, which are two-light square mullion wood casements with glazing bars and squared surrounds. The ground floor has two similar windows and two plain squared jamb doorways. There is an east wing that leads to a yard, built in a similar style and likely adapted from a former barn. This wing ends in a former two-storey sandstone "brick" cottage built around 1800-1820, which also has a shaped kneeler on its west gable end and features two-light square mullion windows and a squared jamb doorway. The building is included for its group value.
