Description
Nos 37 and 39, Westfield Lane are a pair of cottages dating to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. No. 39 is a small cottage that projects towards the road, while No. 37 is a taller dwelling set back, with its main front facing south and backing onto No. 39. The cottages are constructed of sandstone, with a stone slate roof and corniced chimneys. No. 39 has three-light square mullion windows on the first floor, within a squared surround, and a single-light window and squared jamb doorway on the ground floor. No. 37 has an ashlar south front, featuring a sill band, cornice, and blocking course, indicating an enlargement and refronting in the early to mid-19th century. It has three bays with revealed sash windows and block sills. A plain squared jamb doorway is located on the north side.
