- Completed in 1882 to the design of T C Hope of Hope and Jardine. Nearly symmetrical facade of fine ashlar with Italian Renaissance and Baroque details. Two tall storeys on hillside site. Left hand part articulated by giant Corinthian pilasters and the right hand by engaged columns of the same order, on pedestals breaking forward from plinth. Modillion bracket cornice broken forward in line with orders and dies in parapet. Round arched colonetted paired light windows to first floor, those to left hand, as with pilasters, slightly different with carved tympanum. The entrance bay is emphasised by a break with doubled giant orders and the entablature surmounted by segmental pediment. Above this rises the tower with a square, colonetted window, base-broached, with urns on corners, to a polygonal, columned lantern crowned by a stone dome and cupola, On the east side a 3 bay return of similar design breaks forward. The tower is a prominent feature of the Bradford skyline.
