Description
The Deutsche Evangelische Kirche is a small church, or chapel, with an attached double-gabled minister's house, built in 1877 for the German immigrant community. It showcases conventional Bradford architecture from the period, featuring sandstone brick and slated roofs. The minister's house has slight gothic elements. A notable feature is the canted projection at the south-west corner, topped with a small broached slate spire that rises from the pyramidal slate roof, giving it a distinctive Germanic-Flemish character. The church is significant as it reflects the importance of the German immigrant community in the worsted trade during the second half of the 19th century.
