Description

A pair of villas dating from around 1860, designed in an Italianate style but related to the similar properties at numbers 2 to 6 Claremont. The buildings are constructed of ashlar stone, with grooved quoin pilasters. The roofs are slate, hipped and have modillion brackets supporting the eaves. A sill band runs across the first floor. The windows on the first floor have coupled arched lights with impost mouldings. The ground floor features flanking canted bay windows with pedimented blocking courses, and a central tripartite window with a triple pedimented blocking course. The doorways have pilaster strips, carved console brackets and matching blocking courses, as well as a semi-circular fanlight.
