Description

Nos 12 and 14 Melbourne Place are a pair of villas dating from around 1840, designed as a single composition. They are constructed of thin sandstone, appearing like brick. The design includes a plinth, a bed mould to the frieze, and flat stone gutter eaves. The roof is stone slate, with coped gable ends and corniced chimneys, and features two dormers. The front façade is symmetrical with five bays. It incorporates revealed sash windows with ashlar lintels and block sills. A pilaster-framed, canted doorway is present, topped by a deep entablature with a cornice and a blocking course which steps up to the window sill above.
