Description
The barn at Windhill Farm, located approximately 30 metres south of the farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century. It features a cruck-framed structure made of rubble gritstone and currently has no roof. The barn is a single storey with three bays, including a front outshut to the right and an added cowhouse at the left end. It has large quoins and a central cart entrance with a quoined left reveal. The wall to the left has collapsed. Inside, there are three pairs of cruck frames, with the right truss next to the gable wall lacking a tie beam, while the other trusses still have tie beams. Some windbraces are present on the single purlins, and the barn has a crossed apex with a diagonal-set ridge. The barn is included in the listing mainly for its group value and was disused and in a ruinous state at the time of the re-survey.
