Description
The building is a smithy located at the junction with Oaks Lane, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from irregularly coursed gritstone rubble with sparse mortar and features a stone slate roof. The smithy is a single-storey workshop with a shoeing bay on the left side, which is set back. Large gritstone quoins are present, and the date 1788 is crudely inscribed on a quoin at the front right. The dressings are irregular, and there are squat windows on each side of the workshop doorway. The window frames and door are recent, and there is a large door to the shoeing bay with a wooden lintel above. Rebuilt stacks made of punched wallstone are located at each end of the main workshop, positioned on either side of the ridge.
