Description
This small house, located to the southwest of a barn on Miller Lane in Midhopestones, dates from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. The house has a two-room plan with a partial outshut that extends into a three-quarter outshut. It stands two storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. All windows are double-chamfered and fitted with 20th-century wooden casements, with only one mullion remaining on the main elevation.
The doorway is positioned to the left of centre and features quoin reveals and a deep lintel with a cambered soffit, with the entire opening being chamfered. The door is a 20th-century part-glazed model. To the left of the doorway is a four-light window that retains only the central mullion, while to the right, there is a former three-light window and two former two-light windows on the first floor. The house has a central, shouldered, rough-ashlar stack, with later stacks positioned on either side of the ridge.
