Description
Unslivenbridge Farmhouse, along with an attached barn and cowhouse, is a laithehouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of deeply-coursed squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with two windows on the first floor. The window surrounds are double-chamfered, but the mullions are no longer present, and the windows have wooden casements. The building has large quoins and a central 20th-century part-glazed door set in a moulded, quoined surround, flanked by a three-light window with casements and a single-light fire-window on the far left. A dripmould is raised over the door. The two former three-light windows on the first floor have been altered to two-light casements. The gable features shaped kneelers and copings. There is a large external gable stack on the left and an ashlar ridge stack to the right of the door, both adorned with moulded strings and cornices.
The barn and cowhouse include a large cart entrance on the left with quoined reveals and a three-centred arch, along with board doors. To the right, there are three doors set in bonded ashlar surrounds and two boarded hatches leading to the loft, which are in square-faced surrounds. At the rear, there is a later outshut attached to the house part, a door leading to the upper level of the barn, and flanking hatches. On the left return, there is a ground floor single-light double-chamfered window to the left of the stack, along with a door and a first-floor window to the outshut in plain ashlar surrounds. The external stack has six offsets, and there is a single-storey addition to the right of the barn that is not of special interest.
