This guide post, dated 1734, is located at the junction with Dyson Cote Lane on Salter Hill Lane in Hunshelf. It is made of gritstone and has a hexagonal shape with a socket at the top. The sides of the guide post are inscribed with directional information, including distances to various locations: Barnsley and Pontefract, Wakefield and Leeds, Penistone, Huthersfield and Halifax, Woodhead and Mottram, Underbank and Bradfield, and Sheffield and Rotherham.
