Area Health Authority Mental Handicap Services

This building, originally a house and now serving as offices, dates from around 1855, with later additions from the late 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of stucco and features a hipped slate roof with a large coped ridge stack and a smaller coped gable stack. The façade includes a plinth, a first-floor band, panelled angle pilasters, and deep eaves supported by shaped brackets. The slightly projecting center has a single window, and the building is two stories high with a three-window range of 12-pane sashes. The outer windows are adorned with small balconies on brackets, featuring pierced parapets.

At the front, there is a central portico supported by rebated square piers, with an enriched frieze, a bracketed cornice, and pierced parapets. To the right, there is a set-back wing with a single 12-pane sash window on each floor. The right side of the building, facing the street, has a pedimented gable on the left and a stone doorcase with pilasters and a cornice, leading to a 4-panel door with an overlight. The left side features three 12-pane sashes, with the leftmost being larger. Below this, on the left, is a canted stone bay window with a cornice and 20th-century glazing, while to the right is a 2-light casement window. The interior has not been inspected.
