Description

This is a house, later used as offices, dating from approximately 1827 to 1837. It has undergone alterations and additions in the mid-19th century and the mid-20th century. The external walls are stuccoed, and the roof is covered in concrete tiles, with side wall stacks. The building has a stone plinth, decorative modillion eaves, and a balustrade with Greek Key panels. It is three storeys high, plus a basement at the rear, and originally presented a three-window front to Park Terrace. A central, two-storey, three-sided canted bay window dominates the front, with plain sash windows. A central entrance has been added with glazed doors. Flanking the central bay are square, two-storey bay windows, each with three plain sashes. All bay windows have dentillated cornices. The upper floor has three glazing bar sashes with moulded surrounds. The rear elevation, facing Ropewalk, includes a three-storey wing added in the late 19th century on the left-hand side. A two-storey canted bay window with three lights is to the left of this wing. Above, there's an overhanging oriel bow window with six lights and chamfered mullions, supported by brackets. The right return features a colonnade. To the right are a gateway with corniced square piers topped with urns, and a further outbuilding with a balustrade.
