Description

No. 285 Glossop Road is a house, now used as offices, built around 1840. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings. The building features a plinth, panelled corner pilasters with rusticated bases and corniced capitals, a first floor band, and a cornice. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range. The projecting centre is topped with a pediment and contains a plain sash window with a moulded Egyptian style surround and cornice. On either side of the centre, there are similar sash windows with brick flat arches. Above, there are three smaller plain sash windows, with the central one having a moulded surround and the outer ones featuring flat arches. The central entrance has a round-arched rusticated doorcase with a moulded four-panel door and fanlight. On each side of the entrance, there is a plain sash window with a flat arch. To the right, there is a set-back coped wall with a board door, and to the left, a single-storey flat-roofed addition with a single sash window. At the rear, there is a cast-iron balcony to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
