Description
No. 18 and 20 Bank Street is an office building dating from the mid-19th century, with a raised structure from the mid-20th century and some late 20th-century alterations. It is built of brick with an ashlar front and dressings, featuring a rendered parapet, a slate roof, and a single gable stack. The building is designed in the Italianate style and has three storeys with a three-window range.
On the first floor, there are rusticated quoins and pilasters, along with three round-headed two-light windows that have tracery and moulded keystones. Below the central window is a segmental panel displaying a festooned coat of arms, while the outer windows feature pseudo balustrades. Above this, there is a roll moulded cornice. The second floor showcases ornamented panelled pilasters and three two-light mullioned windows with plain sashes and pseudo balustrades. This level is topped with a string course and a deep coped parapet that includes panelled angle pilasters.
The ground floor has rusticated quoins and pilasters, along with a moulded cornice supported by paired scroll brackets. To the left is a 20th-century doorway, and to the right are two 20th-century single pane windows with toplights. The interior has not been inspected.
