Description
40 and 42 Bank Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They were built around 1830, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco dressings and feature a hipped slate roof with a side wall stack. They have a moulded wooden eaves cornice and windows that all have splayed rusticated lintels. The houses are three storeys high and have a three-window arrangement. The central window is blank, with a plain sash window to the left and a 12-pane sash window to the right. Above this, there is similar window arrangement with smaller openings and a 9-pane sash window to the right. At the ground level, there is a central triple doorcase with a flat hood supported by scroll brackets. This doorcase contains a central board door for entry, flanked by panelled doors, all of which have overlights. To the left of the doorcase is a plain sash window, and to the right is a 12-pane sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
