Description
No. 2 East Quay is an office building dating from around 1870. It is constructed of painted brick with a stone cornice and cills, topped with a slate roof featuring brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a classical style, standing two storeys tall with a semi-basement and a three-window range.
The façade is adorned with pilasters that have dentilled tops on each floor, leading to a dentilled cornice that returns at the sides. Paired pilasters flank the central range and extend through the dentilled cornice to a high parapet, which features a central clock. The outer sides of the parapet curve down to volutes that rest on the cornice. The openings are designed with semicircular arches that have rounded arisses and two steps over plate-glass sash windows. The overlight above the door on the right is similar to an upper sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
