Description
This is a former house dating from around 1720 to 1740. It is constructed of Flemish-bond brick with stone details, including a dentilled eaves cornice, quoins, and architraves. The roof is double Roman clay tile with a brick stack on the right-hand side. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a rear wing extending to the right. It is three storeys high, with a six-window front. The second-floor windows have 6/6 glazing bars, set within flat arches. The first-floor windows also have 6/6 glazing bars, set within segmental arches. The five window ranges to the left have molded architraves with keystones and bracketed sills to the second floor. The eaves cornice and the window range beyond the right-hand quoin are set back slightly. The windows in that range lack architraves, but the first floor has a keystone, and the window frames project forward. Modern shopfronts occupy the ground floor. The rear of the building includes a late 19th-century gable and an 18th-century brick wall to the side, which was heightened in the late 19th century. The interior has not been inspected. The building is of group value due to its architectural and historical significance.
