Description
No. 5 Byard Lane is an office building constructed around 1870, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The structure is built of red brick, featuring a rendered ground floor, and has ashlar and yellow brick dressings along with a slate roof. It showcases Gothic Revival architectural style, characterized by a plinth, cornices on both the ground floor and second floor, ashlar string courses, and chamfered brick eaves.
The building is two storeys tall with attics and has a five-window range. The ground floor features an arcade of six chamfered and roll-moulded pointed arched openings with ashlar surrounds, supported by cast-iron shafts with foliage capitals and hood moulds. To the left, there are double doors, followed by a single door and four 20th-century windows. The upper level has three pointed arched windows alternating with two smaller segment-arched windows, and above that, there are three more pointed arched windows. The attics include three flat-headed windows.
