Description
The Cross Keys Public House is a public house built around 1890, which has been restored and altered in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar and terracotta dressings, painted, and features slate roofs. The building has one ridge and one gable stack, a plinth, an eaves cornice, and a spindle balustrade with pedestals.
It stands two storeys plus attics and has a window arrangement of 4 x 5. The building is located on a corner site with an angled corner bay. The ground floor features pilasters with foliage capitals and a dentillated cornice. The corner bay includes a moulded round-arched doorway with a keystone and fanlight, which has been converted to a glazing bar window, with a plain sash window above it. To the right, there are three windows followed by another moulded round-arched doorway with a fanlight and a renewed door. Above this doorway are two double windows flanked by single windows, all of which are plain sashes. Above again, there is a pedimented gable with a ball finial and two double plain sashes.
On the left return facing Byard Lane, there are four windows, and to the left, there is a half-glazed double door with a fanlight. Above this door are five plain sash windows. The interior features dentillated cornices and a round column in the front bar.
