Description

The Old Police Station is a mid-19th century building that has been converted into offices. It features an early 20th-century attic storey and has undergone later 20th-century alterations. The structure is made of brick with an ashlar front and is designed in the Italianate style.

On the exterior, there is a plinth, a string course, sill bands, and a dentilled main cornice. The building has three storeys, a basement, and attics, with a total of eight windows across its façade. The centre is recessed and flanked by projecting bays. Most of the windows are metal-framed tilting casements, with the ground and first-floor windows featuring round heads and keystones. The rusticated ground floor has four windows in the centre, with single windows on either side. To the right, there is a set-back bay with a single window, and to the left, there are 20th-century double doors with a canopy.

Above the ground floor, there are four windows separated by round shafts and linked hoodmoulds, flanked by single windows. The attic storey contains five windows, and the basement features channelled rustication with four plain sash windows in the centre and a single sash window to the left. All windows have board shutters. To the right of the building, there is a shouldered cart entrance with traceried wrought-iron gates. The interior has not been inspected.
