Description
The Sheffield Centre Spiritualist Church, originally a house built around 1840, has undergone early 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs, including two ridge stacks and a single gable stack. The building is designed in an L-plan and includes a plinth, a first-floor band, modillion wooden eaves, and a pediment. The windows are topped with brick flat arches.
The church is two storeys high and has a symmetrical east front with a pedimented gable on the left side, which contains two 12-pane sash windows. Below this gable, on the right, is a moulded round-headed doorcase with imposts, leading to a recessed half-glazed door that features leaded panels and a fanlight. To the left of the door, there is a plain sash window with leaded glazing.
On the left return, there is a central blocked window, flanked by a 12-pane sash window on the right and a plain sash window on the left. Below, to the left, is a canted wooden bay window with a cornice, and to the right, there is another plain sash window, both of which have leaded glazing. The set-back right wing includes a 12-pane sash window and below it, a half-glazed double door with an overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
