Description

This is a house and shop, likely dating from around 1850, and subsequently altered in the early and late 20th century. It is located on a corner site in Sheffield. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks at rounded corners. A plinth, bands at first floor level, and along the eaves run along the front. It has two storeys and originally had a five-window front. The windows are mainly 12-pane sashes with brick flat arches. A central 4-light wooden mullioned window was added in the early 20th century, and below it is a stone shopfront with later 20th-century cladding; this features a central glazed recess with a glazed front door flanked by single-pane shop windows. To the left of the shopfront is a blocked round-headed entrance with a keystone. The right return has two 12-pane sashes on each floor; the lower left one is blanked. The left return has two 12-pane sashes, the right one being smaller. Below, there is a plain sash window to the left, and a corniced wooden doorcase with a fielded 4-panel door on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
