Description
The Tamworth Masonic Rooms, originally a house, date from the early 19th century and are built of brick with ashlar dressings. The building features a slate roof, with tiles on the rear, and brick end stacks. It is designed in a Georgian style and has an L-plan layout. The structure stands three storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range. There are sill bands at the ground and first floors, along with a cornice at the top. The round-headed entrance includes a doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment, topped by a fanlight over a six-fielded-panel door. The windows feature rubbed brick flat arches, with 12-pane sashes on the ground and first floors, while the second floor has windows with sills and 6-pane sashes. At the rear, there is a wing under a hipped roof with a brick cornice, along with a 20th-century addition. The right return of the building has some casement windows with pegged frames.
