Description
20 and 21 Lichfield Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of brick with a stucco facade and features a tiled roof with brick end stacks. It is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys. The front is symmetrical with a three-window range and a two-storey addition to the left.
The central entrance features a doorcase with pilasters and an entablature, along with an overlight above the half-glazed door. There is a similar entrance at the left end of the building. The ground floor windows, which were added in the 20th century, have wedge lintels above small-paned fixed glazing. The upper floor windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels, with 9-pane sashes on the first floor and 4-pane sashes flanking a 6-pane sash on the second floor. The addition has a 20th-century window on the ground floor and a segmental-headed casement window on the first floor. The interior has been significantly altered. The building is included for its group value.
