Description

This is an early 18th-century house located on Lichfield Street, Tamworth, and incorporates the right-hand portion of number 18. The house is constructed of chequer brick with vitrified headers on a stone plinth, and has a tile roof with brick end stacks. It follows a central staircase plan and presents a symmetrical five-window facade over two storeys and an attic. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and there is a top frieze and a modillioned timber cornice. The front entrance features a wooden architrave, a frieze, and a modillioned cornice, along with paired two-panel doors. The ground floor windows consist of a four-light transomed casement with a pegged frame to the left, and a twelve-pane tripartite sash to the right. The first-floor windows have rubbed brick flat arches over cross-casements with pegged frames. Three gabled dormers are visible in the attic, with flush tiling to the gables and cheeks, two of which have casements with pegged frames. The rear of the building features two gabled wings and segmental-headed windows. The interior, specifically the section originally part of this property but now incorporated within number 18, contains a large fireplace, a bressumer, and a 19th-century range.
