Description
No. 10 Claremont Place is a house, now used as offices, built around 1840, with later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, featuring stone and stucco dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks. It has a plinth, a first-floor band, and deep wooden eaves with modillions. The design includes a recessed center flanked by two shallow projecting bays, each containing a window on both floors. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range in an L-plan layout. The windows are 12-pane sashes with brick flat arches. The central entrance features a doorcase with Doric columns and a cornice, leading to a six-panel door with an overlight. To the left of the entrance is a 20th-century two-light casement window, while to the right is a late 19th-century square wooden bay window with a cornice and two plain sashes. The right return of the building has a 12-pane sash window on each floor to the right, and a 20th-century two-light window to the left. There is also a slightly set-back rear wing, which is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The interior has not been inspected.
