Description

The property at 32 Westgate, Southwell, is a house dating from around 1840. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has hipped and gabled slate roofs. The building features a brick plinth, moulded eaves, two ridge stacks and a single gable stack. The main facade, which projects northwards, has canted corners. Prominent features include two glazing bar sashes, a plain sash window below on the left, and a moulded round-headed doorcase with panelled pilasters, a keystone, and a recessed half-glazed door to the right. A two-storey rear wing to the right has four 20th-century windows with segmental heads. On the ground floor of the rear wing, to the left, is a segment-headed plank door, flanked to the left by a French window and to the right by a large 20th-century casement. To the right of that are two close-boarded doors. The front of the house, facing the street, has three plain sash windows with a central blank space on each floor.
