Description

This is a set of six lamp standards with intermediate bollards located at the east front of Wentworth Woodhouse, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The lamp standards feature ashlar-sandstone pedestals and bollards, with cast-iron lamp standards. They are symmetrically arranged, flanking the portico and central block, with bollards placed in line between them. Each lamp standard has a pedestal with a moulded plinth and cornice. The square, open-work pillar tapers to a glazed lantern that has a foliate base and rams' heads at the corners, topped with a pyramidal cap and finial. The bollards are tapered and hexagonal in shape. The linking chains have been removed.
